Text at the top of the page – Golden Popcorn has been bringing joy to snack lovers since August 1996, when we first fired up our popcorn machines in Mallusk, Belfast. As demand soared, we moved to a custom-built facility in Antrim in February 2017, giving us the space to grow and pop even more.
Not long after, we proudly achieved an “AA+” grade in our BRC audit, a testament to our unwavering commitment to quality and food safety. Popcorn isn’t just what we do, is who we are.
The corn behind Golden Popcorn isn’t just any corn, it is specially grown for premium popping perfection. We handpick only the highest-grade butterfly kernels, prized for their light, fluffy texture and impressive pop expansion. This means every bite delivers that perfect crunch, crispness, and rich flavour you crave. We don’t just buy corn, we work together with our dedicated corn supplier, building a close, collaborative partnership. Together, we ensure every kernel is cultivated under ideal conditions, guaranteeing consistent quality and taste in every batch.
We use only high-quality sugar that delivers consistent sweetness and a smooth finish in every bite. Carefully sourced and refined, our sugar enhances the natural Flavours of our ingredients, never overpowering, always just right. Our salt is proudly manufactured in Ireland, so we can work closely with the supplier to guarantee the perfect blend every time. Harvested and refined with care, this salt brings out the best in our snacks adding just the right touch of flavour without overpowering the natural taste of our ingredients.
We use premium-quality rapeseed oil in all our products and for good reason. Naturally low in saturated fats and rich in heart-healthy omega-3s, rapeseed oil offers a lighter, cleaner taste without compromising on flavour or nutrition. Its high smoke point makes it perfect for cooking and ensures our snacks stay crunchy, golden, and delicious.

With the desire to reach higher levels of food safety and food quality Golden Popcorn become accredited to the BRC global standard for food safety.
Asda becomes the first supermarket to stock our own brand on Cinema Style Popcorn.
Golden Popcorn is launched in Tesco Stores across N Ireland.
Sainsburys become the third supermarket to be supplied by Golden Popcorn.
Increased production means moving to a purpose-built factory and office space in Antrim and expanding our team.
Secured contract with Aldi to supply private label popcorn worth £1m per year.
Van Sales team brought onboard to expand into the FMGC market.
Launch Gourmet Crunch – a tasty, low-calorie snack at only 75 calories per bag.
Lidl Ireland and Lidl N Ireland are added to our portfolio of private label customers with GP producing multipacks and flavoured popcorn.
In Celebration of our 25th Birthday, Golden Popcorn has a brand refresh with new packaging.
Having moved to the unannounced BRC food safety scheme in 2017 Golden Popcorn achieve the highest grade possible AA+.
